With its 325 acres of lush lawns, shady glades, and sports fields rolling toward the Long Island Sound, Seaside Park delights locals and visitors alike. The beaches, surf, and sunshine along 3 miles of sparkling coastline is the perfect backdrop for a stroll, birdwatching, or a picnic with friends. The park was laid out just after the Civil War by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted, whose other efforts include Manhattan’s Central Park and Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Their 19th-century landscapes prove timeless, as they entice each new generation of park-goers.

Port Jefferson Ferry
Drive, walk, or ride your bicycle aboard one of the three ferries at Port Jefferson. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view as the ferry cruises across the Long Island Sound. It’s a simple experience to savor: sunshine, breezes, the sound of the waves, as you enjoy a snack or a cocktail from the Steamboat Lounge.

A History of Bridgeport
Settled in the mid-17th century as part of the township of Stratford, Bridgeport, Connecticut, incorporated as a town in 1821 and as a city in 1836. While early settlers farmed and fished, they soon took advantage of their location on Black Rock Harbor and shifted from an agrarian community to a mercantile and manufacturing hub.
