Oceanside Harbor
Oceanside Harbor is treasured by locals and tourists alike. This tucked-away, serene spot is more than just a marina for sailboats and paddleboarders. You’ll love the vast array of restaurants, cafes, and boutiques to satisfy every style. The Harbor is known for its water activities too – from deep-sea fishing to boat rentals, to whale watching cruises. There is also a sandy beach to walk along while sinking your toes into the Pacific. Be sure to toast the sunset with friends from this idyllic spot.

Tee Time
The Hacienda is just down the road from many of the world’s best golf courses. In fact, Oceanside is home to San Diego County’s first golf course: Goat Hill Park, best known for its PGA Championship courses. Of course, there are many diverse golf courses to choose to play on – some with gorgeous coastal views. If golf is your game, or you want to learn, you have many options in Oceanside.

Oceanside Museum of Art
Oceanside has a vibrant and diverse art scene – with boutiques, galleries, and museums that showcase local and global artisans with a wide range of specialties. A perfect day trip excursion is to the Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA), a 25-year-old gem that celebrates Southern California art and the life and stories of its artists. Be sure to inquire about the adult programs and special events, such as workshops, live music events, art auctions, after-hour parties, festivals, and more. The grounds are lovely; inside, it’s magical. OMA is open Wednesday through Sunday, and admission is only $5 for seniors.

A History of Oceanside, California
Oceanside in North San Diego County was named for its location by the Pacific Ocean. Its documented history started in the 1700s with the Spanish explorers; however, we now know the area was inhabited for thousands of years by the Chumash people. The Spanish explorer Portola explored the agriculture-rich San Luis Rey Valley in 1769 and founded the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia in 1798.
